One on my favorite books when I first began the journey of Self-Discovery was, The Tao of Pooh, by Benjamin Hoff. Pooh The author used A. A. Milne’s characters to symbolize ideas that differ from, or accentuate, Taoist principals. Winnie the Pooh himself, for example, personified the principle of Wu Wei, Wu Wei, the concept of effortless doing. And also the principal of Pu ,Pu, the concept of being open to, but unburdened by, life’s experiences. These are also a metaphors for our human nature. This week I was scrolling through Facebook and found an announcement for an online class with Martha Beck, a prominent Life-Coach. The workshop looked interesting, I watched.
Dwelling amid the Inexplicable, indeed being: That Which is Inexplicable, is a life task and current delight for me. Growing up in a family of geniuses was tough for a right-brained kid who would rather day dream than remain grounded in her studies. However I do hold an appreciation for physics, and the other day I was wandering through old magazines searching for colors, shapes, and ideas for the U-doo Doll Journal cover. I got caught up in this blurb about the: Inexplicable Universe by Kyle Kramer. “There a concept in physics called the fine-tuning problem. Imagine the universe has adjustable knobs. I, and we, can only exist if the.
Another minor miracle in the U-doo Doll’s creation saga was meeting a new friend at a local library gathering. A bi-monthly gathering I attended rather infrequently. Last summer though, this group was instrumental for me with its discussion of the book, The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. Julia Cameron We studied The Artist’s Way during the summer and, as best I could, I followed the daily writing practices with unblocking exercises outlined in each chapter. I began to open up again, and remembering that I just might have something useful to offer this world. That something, I hope, is the U-doo Doll! After editing and re-edting the U-Doo Doll instruction book, I.
At this year’s, A Shift in the Heartland Conference in February, one of the participants surprised me. He told me that the U-doo Dolls were his favorite thing at the conference. I was stunned! There were so many venders with unique items for sale. Only a few people seemed to show interest in the U-doo Dolls, and honestly, I was feeling a bit nervous at their first venue, their Debut! I was afraid people wouldn’t get it. He surprised me again saying that he understood the mirrored face was so that the user would feel compelled to view their U-doo Doll as themselves. “Bingo!” I said. “I’m so happy you.
I promised more background on the U-doo Doll history: when it was born, why the little instruction manual rested quietly in a folder for fifteen years, and what circumstances gave it life once more. And we’ll get to those stories. Today I want to write about Angel Cards(R). AngelCards are the creation of Kathy Tyler and Joy Drake who were members of the Findhorn Foundation, a spiritual community in Scotland. https://www.findhorn.org The Findhorn Community has an interesting horticultural history, growing amazingly lush gardens with poor soil conditions. Angel Cards arrived in my life by way of a yard sale, some ten years ago, in a dusty, crinkled-up old sandwich baggie. I could feel.
It was mid-October, 2017. Our house finish-out work was finally complete, mostly. The Massage Therapy Board Certification Test had been studied for, taken, and passed. House guests of many weeks during the hospice period for my father-in-law had departed, and I finished writing my first book: https://www.amazon.com/Making-Space-Grace-Confessions-Middle-Aged-ebook/dp/B07392663Z/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1519664043&sr=8-1&keywords=making+space+for+grace+confessions#customerReviews Traveling, editing and futzing-about with the Kindle program, while taking a five-week course at Mile Hi Church in Denver, milehichurch.org was inspiring and now, now, I could begin to legally present myself to Kearney, Nebraska as an Energy Practitioner. Many of you now know my brother-in-law was in a disastrous accident last summer, and after six weeks in the hospital, he came home to live.
Several people have asked me for the class notes from: The Shift in the Heartland workshop. I hope in this way, these notes will reach those who are interested. Thank you Kearney Nebraska! What a terrific conference last weekend at the third annual, A Shift in the Heartland, sponsored by Teresa Bushnell of Holistic Health and Healing. www.teresabushnell.com I met some delightful, heart-centered people, listened to terrific presenters, and had the opportunity to learn something about myself, as a presenter. Pretty wonderful stuff. And, I also unveiled a project I’d begun working with last autumn, after a nearly twenty-year hiatus. The U-doo Doll is now available for the first time! What is a U-doo Doll? Well, it was explained to me in the form of a question. “What is the opposite of a voodoo doll?” In that moment, the.
It’s an interesting phenomenon: what we resist, persists. It’s as if the very act of denying, pushing, avoiding, or even directly attacking reinforces the very situation we’d like to see change. How is this possible? Why do we do it? And, perhaps the most intriguing question, why to we repeat this behavior? Watch this YouTube Video for yourself. Let me know what you think happens to Joshua and perhaps what we can learn from his experience. (click on the plus sign to see video.) Happy (un)Labor Day
